چکیده
Abstract In recent years microalgae products have developed increasing market demand, but sustainable industrial production is still challenged by biological stability of large-scale plants. Yet the relationships between algal hosts, associated microbiomes, and contaminants in photobioreactors remains widely understudied. The aim this study was to investigate temporal development microbiomes four freshwater species Scenedesmus vacuolatus , Desmodesmus quadricauda Chlorella sorokiniana Botryococcus braunii presence absence zoosporic parasite Amoeboaphelidium protococcarum . To compare effects sterile nonsterile culture conditions, infection experiments were performed laboratory (sterile) simulated conditions (open). Algal growth (dry weight, optical density, nutrient consumption) observed for 21 days, samples microbiome collected bacterial 16S rRNA gene Illumina MiSeq sequencing. Infection patterns A. algae species-specific, irrespectively conditions. Bacterial community analysis demonstrated distinct stable communities each species, which mostly dominated ?- ?-Proteobacteria. Upon aphelid parasitosis, diversity increased, compositions diverged algae-specific over time. Moreover, functional traits shifted detoxification, degradation, cellulolysis once infected. This provides a first insight into close connection algae, appearing photobioreactor systems.

Detection of Intracellular Bacterial Communities in Human Urinary Tract Infection
BACKGROUND Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the most common bacterial infections and are predominantly caused by uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC). While UTIs are typically considered extracellular infections, it has been recently demonstrated that UPEC bind to, invade, and replicate within the murine bladder urothelium to form intracellular bacterial communities (IBCs). These IBC...
متن کاملDiurnal cycling of rhizosphere bacterial communities is associated with shifts in carbon metabolism
BACKGROUND The circadian clock regulates plant metabolic functions and is an important component in plant health and productivity. Rhizosphere bacteria play critical roles in plant growth, health, and development and are shaped primarily by soil communities. Using Illumina next-generation sequencing and high-resolution mass spectrometry, we characterized bacterial communities of wild-type (Col-...
متن کاملMetabolic Requirements of Escherichia coli in Intracellular Bacterial Communities during Urinary Tract Infection Pathogenesis
UNLABELLED Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) is the primary etiological agent of over 85% of community-acquired urinary tract infections (UTIs). Mouse models of infection have shown that UPEC can invade bladder epithelial cells in a type 1 pilus-dependent mechanism, avoid a TLR4-mediated exocytic process, and escape into the host cell cytoplasm. The internalized UPEC can clonally replicate ...
متن کاملCharacterization of Amoeboaphelidium protococcarum, an Algal Parasite New to the Cryptomycota Isolated from an Outdoor Algal Pond Used for the Production of Biofuel
Mass culture of algae for the production of biofuels is a developing technology designed to offset the depletion of fossil fuel reserves. However, large scale culture of algae in open ponds can be challenging because of incidences of infestation with algal parasites. Without knowledge of the identity of the specific parasite and how to control these pests, algal-based biofuel production will be...
متن کاملTransient Shifts in Bacterial Communities Associated with the Temperate Gorgonian Paramuricea clavata in the Northwestern Mediterranean Sea
BACKGROUND Bacterial communities that are associated with tropical reef-forming corals are being increasingly recognized for their role in host physiology and health. However, little is known about the microbial diversity of the communities associated with temperate gorgonian corals, even though these communities are key structural components of the ecosystem. In the Northwestern Mediterranean ...
